Press Release 12 October 2020

Maritime Cook Islands (MCI), the Administrators of the Cook Islands Ships Registry, welcome newly appointed Deputy Registrar Peter Redford and Cook Islands Agent James Humphreys.

PETER REDFORD – Deputy Registrar

Peter Redford studied Mechanical Engineering. He subsequently proceeded to work for one of Sydney’s most reputable engineering consulting firms.  Later, his work commitments as sales engineer at Caterpillar extended as far as the Middle East where he worked in Saudi Arabia in capacity of Head of Sales. He worked closely with the international division and assisted in managing sales and communications with all of the company’s clients in the region.

Having purchased his first ski boat at the age of 16 years, Peter’s greatest passion has always been boats, both power and sail and with the water. Peter Redford epitomises integrity, energy, hard work and creative service.  He is the Managing Director of Fraser Yachts Australia, a great industry leader and mentor to all his staff.  With over 40 years industry experience, Peter has been appointed as the Chair of the New South Wales Superyacht Association, Boating Industry Association member and Justice of the Peace.

JAMES HUMPHREYS – MCI AGENT

Originally from the Cook Islands, James is now based in the Gold Coast with his young family. Growing up on the island of Atiu, a passion for the ocean came naturally to him.  After leaving the Cook Islands James studied Tourism Management and has over 15 years’ experience across multiple tourism sectors including four years managing a Gold Coast charter yacht company with a fleet of four Superyachts and a Game Fishing vessel before joining the team at Yachtsmen International as a luxury yacht broker. His extensive commercial charter knowledge and sound vessel operation skills provide a wealth of experience in survey requirements, foreign flag registration, crewing, refits, scheduled maintenance and commercial charter legislation. It was, therefore, natural progression for James to join the Maritime Cook Islands team as a Ships Register Agent.

He and his wife, Victoria, now manage Humphreys Marine specialising in commercial yacht marketing, management and Maritime Cook Islands Ships Registration.

MCI CEO Angelos Chatzigeogiou said “We are excited to have Peter & James join our team at Maritime Cook Islands.  We are able to provide efficient service to our Australian clients in the same time zone. MCI look forward to working with them both in growing the business in Australia as well as maintaining the good relationships we’ve established with our existing clients”
